tears to diamonds, in God's hands
dreams to ashes, in my grasp
charcoal to fire, in God's breath
on my own, a choking gasp

Here's one of my favorite parts of "Hinds Feet on High Places" by Hannah Hurnard.

THE WATER SONG

"It is, of course, impossible to write it in water-language, but this is the best I can do to translate it. Of course, it is a very poor effort, for though a water song perhaps may be set to music, words are quite a different matter. But it went something like this:

Come, oh come! Let us away-
Lower, lower every day.
Oh, what joy it is to race
Down to find the lowest place.
This is the dearest law we know-
"It is happy to go low."
Sweetest urge and sweetest will,
"Let us go down lower still."

Hear the summons night and day
Calling us to come away.
From the heights we leap and flow
To the valleys down below.
Always answering to the call,
To the lowest place of all.
Sweetest urge and sweetest pain,
To go low and rise again.

I've got to stop praying that prayer! haha- just kidding. :) I ask God to make me desperate for him, and bring me to a point of truly wanting more of Him. That's a good place to be in, right? ... And then He answers, and I'm like "oh, yeah- I remember now. This really isn't as fun as I think it is." Because I get to this point where I'm humbled by seeing HOW MUCH I need Him, and wanting more of God so much that it hurts. So I guess it's good in a way because I know He'll answer my cry to know Him more. But I keep forgetting about the part that it hurts when you're really truly hungry. Because in order to come to the point of realizing that I need more, I first have to realize that I have very little. And that's not what I would naturally choose for myself. (Heh- which is why I keep praying this prayer!) :)

So, yeah- wanting more of God. Hmm. I went to the Vineyard church with Bethany this morning. And the worship time was good. To set aside that time as being with God and focus on Him instead of the millions of other things going on in life. It amazes me how many (little and big) ways God works in our lives to get our attention and show us He cares. Down to the little details like the color of the flags I got to dance with at church that had significance this morning. :)

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

"ADONAI"

One single drop of rain

Your salty tear became blue ocean
One tiny grain of sand turning in your hand
A world in motion
You're out beyond the furthest Morning Star
Close enough to hold me in Your arms
AdoniaI lift up my heart and I cry
My Adonai
You are the Maker of each moment
Father of my hope and freedom

Oh, my Adonai
One timid faithful knock
Resounds upon the Rock of Ages
One trembling heart and soul
Becomes a servant bold and courageous
You call across the mountains and the seas
I answer from the deepest part of me
From age to age you reign in Majesty
And today You're making miracles in me.

Thoughts from church this morning :)

Anyone have any good April Fools day tricks you played today? Heh heh.

On another tangent, here's some things I heard this morning that added another new depth to the concept that Jesus came to our world humbly as a servant:
-Judas betrayed Jesus to the authorities for 30 pieces of silver. Apparently, the accepted value of a slave (if you were to buy or sell one) at that time was about... 30 pieces of silver.
-Jesus washed Judas' feet. ... Ponder that one for a while!

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
 but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
      being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death—
      even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
       Philippians 2: 5-11
